District Committees and Chairperson
District committees handle issues that are larger in scale than a unit operation, but more localized in effect than the entire Council’s 17 counties. The district provides programming that supports multiple units, and helps channel information to Units, Scouts, and Scouters. The District actions are managed by the District Chairman and the District Commissioner. The District Committee is made of members at large, Charter organization Representatives, and officers who oversee the following committees;
Membership and Relationships- This volunteer group helps organize support membership growth and retention at the District level
Dynamic and Relevant Program- Volunteers here organize program activities for all units in the District including Day Camps, Webelos Action Camp (WAC), Camporees, Merit Badge Camps, and Klondike Derbies. Activities that involve multiple units help scouts appreciate the bigger picture of scouting and connect with other youth from different neighborhoods and communities.
Development Friends of Scouting and he Popcorn Sale are the major focus of this group along with other fundraising activities. Members of this committee work as unit presenters for FOS, help support and actively search out people in the community who want to support Scouting and organize and execute special event fundraisers.
Training- Every kid deserves a qualified and trained leader. Volunteers in this committee conduct training courses for leaders and provide feedback to adults who need training. There is a larger demand for trainings than we currently have trainers to meet that demand.
