Welcome C.A.M.P. Breakfast Patrol Leader!

RETURN TO PATROL LEADER RESOURCES

Thank you for agreeing to be a Patrol Leader at our upcoming “Scout C.A.M.P.” free fund-raising breakfast, to be held on Tuesday, August 30 from 7:30 to 8:30 am.  The event will be held in Downtown Duluth.  Funds generated through this effort will help the Voyageurs Area Council expand our work in the community and help teach boys, young men and young women of today how to be the leaders of tomorrow.

You are the most essential element in ensuring the success of our event.  You don’t need to be a great salesperson to be a good Patrol Leader; all you need is a passion for our cause, a little time here and there to contact potential guests, and some knowledge of the event.  We already know you have the passion, and suspect you have the time because you said “yes”.  This packet will provide you with the information you need about the Scout C.A.M.P. breakfast to make your job easier and more enjoyable.  Please take time to familiarize yourself with the contents.

As a Scout C.A.M.P. Patrol Leader, you have agreed to fill a table of eight people, including yourself.  I recommend that you begin by making a list of all potential guests.  They can be friends, coworkers, family, neighbors – basically, anybody you know that you expect will share your love of Scouts and its mission.  This may be their first introduction to Scouting but, ideally, many of your guests will already be somewhat familiar with us.  In either case, they may not really know what Scouts are doing today, and where we’re going in the future.

We invite you and all other Patrol Leaders to a special meeting on Wednesday, August 10 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Scout Service Center (3877 Stebner Road, Hermantown, MN).  This is your chance to learn all the secrets of your very important Patrol Leader role at the event itself.  And, the Voyageurs Area Council will supply a number of door prizes for several lucky attendees.

In order to have a full table on the day of the event, we ask that you pre-confirm ten guests.  The more personal the invitation, the better chance they will be to attend.  We advise inviting people in person or by telephone, then confirming by mailing them one of the reminders provided in this packet as well as following up with an e-mail confirmation.  Please plan to call them at least once more before the event to reconfirm.

I suspect that you will have easily filled your table in no time at all.  However, if you need some support, additional materials, or just suggestions on what to do with the people you can’t fit at your table, please feel free to contact me at [Click for member's page]. Or, you may call the Scout Service Center anytime at 218-729-5811.

Again, thank you for serving as a Patrol Leader.  Your participation enables us to continue cultivating assistance, mentors and partnerships (C.A.M.P.) so that we may fulfill the Boy Scout mission and our promise to the Northland’s youth.

Sincerely,

Chris James

Senior Patrol Leader
