Scouts, Scouters and Scouting supporters know that the BSA is all about creating leaders for our communities. Sadly, research tells us, that many in the community perceive us as an outdoor club.... that sells popcorn.

Here's where you can help.  Think of one or more folks that fit the demographic that the Duluth News Tribune is looking to recognize below. Take a few moments and gather the information needed to support their nomination.

As someone who sits firmly in the middle of "Generation X" and "The Millennial Generation/Generation Y/The ME Generation" I can think of a number of peers who "help make this community great."  I hope you can, too.

The Duluth News Tribune launches its sixth 20 Under 40 awards to honor the work and contributions of people under age 40 that help to make this community great. We are seeking individuals who are successful in their chosen fields, who are role models in their careers or who have demonstrated leadership in their business or the community. If you know someone who deserves to be honored, submit his or her name for consideration.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, June 1, 2012.

Nominating guidelines: There is no cost or limit on nominations. Nominees must be between 21 and 39 years of age as of June 3. Nominations will be accepted for individuals who live or work in the greater Duluth-Superior area, our primary circulation area, which extends roughly from Two Harbors to Carlton and from Superior to Hermantown. Employees of the Duluth News Tribune and community papers are ineligible. If you have questions about whether individuals are eligible for nomination, please call (218) 723-5322. A panel of independent judges will determine the winners.
