Camp 28

Camp 28 is located north of Duluth in the Fredenberg Township.  This 8 acre camp sits along the Cloquet River and has a rustic, wood-heated cabin that can sleep up to 25.  A newer outhouse and multiple campsites are spread out among an old growth white pine and balsam forest.  The Cloquet River is an easy beginner style canoeing stream with remote campsites established along the shore.  This is a great camp to conduct the pioneering merit badge, practice winter camping or launch a day trip down the river.

Effective immediately, we will not be accepting reservations for the use of the building at Camp 28. Any existing reservations will be either fully refunded, or will be moved to another council facility of the requestors choice. Candy will contact any outstanding reservations to facilitate an alternative location for the unit’s outdoor programming.

Our council recently received an independent property review of all of our properties. This independent review observed a number of significant health and safety issues with the building at Camp 28.  A number of items will need to be addressed before this facility may be available.

  1. The properties committee will be providing a report to the board
  2. The executive board may choose to appropriate funds to address the health and safety issues
  3. The health and safety issues will then need to be addressed by authorized staff, volunteers, and/or vendors.
