The Trainer's EDGE

ALL DAY SESSION While the Trainer’s EDGE is a required train-the-trainer course for Wood Badge and NYLT staffs, it is also for other trainers wishing to enhance their training and presentation skills. The purpose of the Trainer’s EDGE course is to provide and help develop the platform skills of a trainer. It is meant to supplement the practice offered through Wood Badge and NYLT staff development, with a focus on the participant, while raising the level of skill a trainer brings to the staff experience.

This training is for all Cub Scout Leaders - Cubmaster, Committee Chair, Committee Member, and Den Leaders. This course is intended to provide Cubmasters with the information and tools they need to successfully lead a Cub Scout pack. Cubmasters and assistants who complete this training and Youth Protection training are considered “trained” for both positions.

Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills (IOLS) TEST OUT

Audience: Adults
This is intended for adult leaders with immediate Outdoor Skills. This is a test out class. If your skills are less advanced, please find a full multi-day IOLS course. IOLS Course Description - Working as patrols, this hands-on course provides adult leaders the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out-of-doors. Upon completion, leaders should feel comfortable teaching Scouts the basic skills required to obtain the First Class rank. Along with Scoutmaster Specifics this course is required of all direct contact leaders registered in Boy Scout Troops in order to be considered “trained”.

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO)

BALOO training consists of an online pre-requisite component in addition to classroom instruction with some hands on practical learning. BSA’s Cub Scout level camping policies will be taught along with the discovery of the necessary tools to help units carry our a successful camping experience. Completion of this course is mandatory for a MINIMUM OF ONE adult on a Pack overnighter.
