CONTINGENT TROOP LEADER REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
The registration procedure for the 2010 National Scout Jamboree has changed from previous jamborees. Youth and leaders will be required to register online for the jamboree. Please review the following procedures:
· Register online at www.MyScouting.org. There will also be a link on www.scouting.org/jamboree which will redirect to www.MyScouting.org. Registration opened on July 1, 2008.
· Go to the Web site and create a log-in user ID and password. You must have your BSA member ID number to create a user account. This is on your membership card, or check with your troop. You may also call the council for your number.
· There will be a window on the log-in screen informing the user of the BSA member ID number requirement. Create a user account. Now you can create an online application.
· When submitting your registration, the applicant will be asked to pay a $10 processing fee payable by credit/debit card only. The $10 processing fee is nonrefundable.
· All youth and potential leader applicants will be instructed to print their confirmation, have it signed by their Scoutmaster, and take or mail the signed document and a $100 deposit to our council office. For those youth that have already deposited $100 with the Hold-a-spot form, they will not have to send the $100.
· Note: This confirmation does not guarantee a spot in a council jamboree troop. The Council Jamboree Committee will make that determination. Our council is sending 3 troops of 36 Scouts and 4 leaders each.
Leaders: if you are currently not qualified for one of the leadership positions with the troop contingent and still would like to be considered for one of the positions, you still have time to meet some of the qualifications such as Wood Badge for the 21st Century trained leader. We are running a weeklong Wood Badge course in March of 2009 and there is room for more attendees. A participant would have time to take and complete the requirements for the Wood Badge beads by July 1, 2010.
For those that interested in serving on the 2010 National Scout Jamboree staff, you will also register online using the same member ID process. Staff applicants will be directed to pay a deposit when applying. Staff fees will not go through our council. Staff must be 16 years of age by July 26, 2010.
