You may never know what you missed !!!

It's June 24th and Arrow Power 2011 is in full swing. So far there has been thousands of feet of trail built and repaired. If you get the chance to bring your unit to the Superior Hiking Trail, be sure to hike on the Cascade Loop and see the great work. If you want to Mountian Bike in the woods, check out Pincushion in Grand Marais and Sugarbush in Torte.

Great work being done by the members of the OA from Central Region, Area 1

Too bad you're not here.

May 2011 Update !!!!!

There is still 1 chance for you if you want to be a part of the largest service project ever done by the OA in Area 1 of the Central Region.

If you will call or send an e-mail to Chuck Ensign, Lodge Adviser, by June 1st you could still be a part of the Arrow Power 2011 project.

At the on-site in Grand Marais this weekend it was decided that we could take 50 people total to work for 2 of the final days of the project. This was opened so that camp staff members that could only commit for those days would have an opportunity to still be of service. You would need to arrive on Thursday night for training, be on the trail as Friday/Saturday crew member and depart on Sunday morning after breakfast. Cost for those interested will be $50 and you will need to supply all of the regular items needed for participation.

Call me or send me an e-mail. [Click for member's page]

Arrow Power 2011 with the USFS is on !

The name of the project will be Arrow Power 2011, Service on the Superior.

The project is going to happen. June 2011

For those of you who have not heard, the section C1a  and C1b have been selected to run an ArrowCorp5 like event at the section level. In 2008 the national Order of the Arrow sent thousands of arrowmen to 5 different National Forest sights around the country to do service for the Forest Service. During this event the National Forest Service was very impressed with the ability of the organization to exceed the goals set, especially at the site of the Bridger Teton event, that the Superior National Forest has been selected to have a similar event.

This event is going to be held in the Grand Marais area of the forest and the details are being worked out to determine the exact projests that we will be doing. Bill Beyer and the youth leadership of the section are meeting with the National Forest Service in March to begin the process at the local level.

The preliminary expectations are that the project will involve 500 arrowmen and women from across sections C1a and C1b as well as some members of the National OA committee.

As the host lodge of this event, it's in our yard, it's my hope that KaNiss MaIngan Lodge will have a great turn out for both the event and during this planning process. This will be our chance to shine as a lodge and give our youth an opportunity to show how great the arrowmen of this area are.

Thank you to Bill for the work you have already done to get this project rolling and for the work you will be doing in the next months .

Chuck Ensign

Lodge Adviser
