Astronaut Speaks to Scouts From Space

Distinguished Eagle Scout and NASA astronaut Mike FossumExternal Link is embarking on another incredible journey as he spends nearly six months aboard the International Space Station as part of Expeditions 28 and 29. Fossum launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on June 7 aboard Russia’s Soyuz TMA-02M spacecraft.

After reaching orbit, Fossum—who is an active Scouter in the Sam Houston Area Council—placed a call to a few lucky Scouts at Camp Perry in the Rio Grande Council. (Read more about the incredible logistics of arranging the call in the next installment of Chief Scout Executive Bob Mazzuca’s blog by vising MyBSA and looking in the “Bob’s Blog” gadget on the left side of the screen.)

Scouts can follow Fossum’s incredible journey in space with periodic journal updates and photos on nesa.orgExternal Link. They also may follow along via coverage on NASA TVExternal Link.
