Chartered Organization Representative Training

First, we would like to ensure that as a chartered organization representative, you have all the training necessary to administrator your role.  We are offering several quick and easy training options.  All leaders involved with the Boy Scouts of America must take Youth Protection TrainingExternal Link (YPT)– ideally once a year.  The exact requirement is once every two years, but we encourage everyone to review YPT every year to ensure your training never lapses.  YPT can easily be taken online at my.scouting.orgExternal Link.  It takes less than 45 minutes.  If technology is not your friend or you prefer interactive, live training, you are welcome to attend a session in your area.  Most units (Packs, Troops, Crews) conduct this training in September/October as part of welcoming new leaders and participants.  You may also check out a DVD from the Scout Service Center by calling (218) 729-5811.

Another component of chartered organization representative and organization training is role specific.  This orientation training can be accessed at my.scouting.orgExternal Link.  There are two courses to be completed – This is Scouting and Fast Start-Chartered Organization Representative.  If you have not taken this training in the last five (5) years, it would be a good idea to review it again.  Materials are being updated all the time.  At the end of the second module, you are encouraged to continue your training with a live session.  These sessions are held frequently across the Voyagers Area Council and details to the upcoming one are below.

The Scouting Conference is being held on Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the Superior Middle School in Superior, Wisconsin.  As luck would have it, there is a live Charter Organization Representative (CR) training schedule from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., as well as Youth Protection Sessions from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.  and 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m.

We would also like to invite you to a presentation about the VAC’s 2017 Strategic Plan.  We are excited to share the hard work we have done, and what we hope to accomplish in the upcoming year.  Council President, Chris Mathews will be leading this interactive session.  It is a great opportunity for you to provide feedback for the upcoming year.  You can register at As a chartered organization representative, you are a voting member of your local council.
