New Commissioner Award of Excellence Recognition Items Now Available

New Commissioner Award of Excellence Recognition Items Now Available

The Commissioner Award of Excellence in Unit Service was developed as a nationwide effort to engage Scouting volunteers and professional Scouters in working together to focus on unit retention. The award was designed to recognize volunteers who are providing excellent commissioner service with a knot and to let those commissioners lead by example.

Now there are two recognition items available for this honor. A knot is used to recognize a commissioner for earning this award once, and a device is used when a commissioner has earn this award a second or third time for different units.

No. 613223   Commissioner Award of Excellence in Unit Service Knot

No. 871 Commissioner Recognition Device (This device was formerly called the Commissioner Training Device. While its name has changed, the number will remain 871.)

Any registered commissioner who is providing direct unit service is eligible to earn the Commissioner Award of Excellence in Unit Service through unit service and a project that results in improved retention of members and on-time unit charter renewal over the course of two consecutive years. If a commissioner who is not registered as a unit commissioner wishes to earn this award, he or she must work with the district commissioner where the unit or units are registered.

The award requirements can be found at http://www.scouting.org/sitecore/content/Home/Commissioners/recognition.aspxExternal Link.
