Maurice Moe passed away March 20, 2015

  Maurice C. Moe

Maurice C. Moe, 89, of Duluth passed away on March 20, 2015.

His parents were Simon B. and Julia (Lunke) Moe.

After graduating from Central High School he enlisted in the Navy before his 18th birthday, and proudly served as a quartermaster on the destroyer USS Bell in the south Pacific during World War II. He enjoyed attending many Bell reunions with fellow crew mates.

He earned his bachelors degree from UMD after returning home from service, and worked for many years at CCC Canteen Service in Duluth. When this business closed its Duluth office, he worked for the DTA for 10 years until retiring.

He was a mentor for hundreds of young boys as Scoutmaster of Troop 7 and received many honors for scouting. In 2008 a special Court of Honor recognized him for 70 years in scouting. His love of and service to scouting continued the rest of his life. He was especially proud of the numerous Eagle Scouts he mentored. After retiring, he continued being on the Eagle Court of Review and enjoyed going to the Council scout office to help out with office tasks and visit with the staff.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Florence (Aldine) Anderson.

He is survived by his sister Eleanor (John) Collins and was a much beloved uncle of eight nieces and nephews and many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, in First Lutheran Church, with visitation at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Voyageurs Area Council Boy Scouts of America or First Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
