Boy Scouts Partner with CHUM – Collect 7 Tons of Food

Duluth, MN – October 27, 2012 | October SHARE Community Food Drive is a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors is generally held the Fourth Saturday of October. Churches, youth groups, Girl & Boy Scouts, students, families, and community organizations participate in this community-wide effort to stock local food shelves.

Meg Kearns of the CHUM Food Shelf shares, “Having more than seven tons of food to distribute as a result of the SHARE Food Drive is certainly cause for celebration for all the local food shelves! Thanks to all of the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and leaders who helped with the annual SHARE Community Food Drive, offering many grocery shoppers the opportunity to help our neighbors in need. Your generosity and support mean a lot to the people we serve.”

The Voyageurs Area Council, Boy Scouts of America is one of 296 local Boy Scout Councils. Headquartered in Hermantown and serving a 42,000 square mile territory, the council provides Scouting to nearly 4,000 young people annually through partnerships with over 120 community organizations and their more than 1,300 volunteer leaders.
