Wonders of the Night Sky . . . A Stellar All-Nighter

Join acclaimed Minnesota astronomer Mike Lynch to watch the great celestial show over the Forest History Center during the Wonders of the Night Sky Festival. Mike will have his large reflecting telescopes set up for viewing, including two giant 20-inch reflector telescopes that are among the largest mobile telescopes in Minnesota. Experience close-up views of stars, planets, star clusters, and nebulae, as well as become acquainted with summer constellations. You may even see meteors from the Perseid meteor shower. Learn about celestial photography, as Mike takes amazing photos that will be made available to participants at no additional charge.

Camping and RV parking will be permitted at the Forest History Center for this event without additional charge. However, there are no RV hookups available. Please consider bringing your own telescopes and/or binoculars, as well as lawn chairs and blankets to make you and your family extra comfy under the cosmos.

The event will begin at 9:30 p.m. with a short, indoor presentation by Mike Lynch. After the orientation, the activities will shift outdoors under the “majestic heavens.” All participants will receive a great package that includes user-friendly star maps, constellation charts, website information, a telescope buying guide, and more.
