Update Youth Protection Records Through MyScouting Tools

The initial release of MyScouting Tools gave volunteers the opportunity to do something they’ve never been able to do before: log in and update their primary address, phone number and email address without the assistance of a BSA employee. This, among other features, has been welcomed and well received by volunteers and leaders. As promised, new tools will be released every four to six weeks, and it is now time for the second release.

Release 1.1 of MyScouting Tools introduces a new feature that allows volunteers and leaders to view the completion date of their most recent Youth Protection compliance.

To view the training date of their most recent Youth Protection training, volunteers and leaders will need to log in to MyScouting Tools, go to their Dashboard, choose My Profile, and click the Training Information button.

It is important to understand that many volunteers will have completed a Youth Protection training (YPT) course multiple times; however, for Youth Protection compliance, only their most recent completion date will be displayed. Full-history training reports will be in a subsequent release. If desired, volunteers can contact their councils to obtain a complete report of their training history.

Only unit and district Key 3 administrators will see a Youth Protection tool within their Toolkits. This tool gives them the ability to view and update the most recent Youth Protection compliance date of members within their units and districts. However, the system will only display the most recent date completed. For example, adult leader Mark Peterson took Youth Protection training on 09/18/2011 and Venturing Youth Protection training on 12/07/12. Once his unit leader enters his Venturing YPT in MyScouting Tools, his regular YPT will no longer display. They are both still valid, but this system only displays the most recently completed training.

Unit and district Key 3 administrators will not be able to update their personal Youth Protection training compliance records. They must enlist the help of a fellow administrator to do so.

Volunteers may call with questions about this, so please help them understand this is to be used for tracking Youth Protection compliance, not all historical training. Thank you for your support as we continue to enhance MyScouting Tools.
