Council Research

The Boy Scouts of America have been in service since 1910. “The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.”

In order to measure our effectiveness we had two research studies doen:

The Wilder Research:

The purpose of the study was to evaluate and measure the Voyageurs Area Council’s impact on its youth members, parents and Scouting leaders. During the study, the Wilder Research Center staff conducted 584 telephone interviews with youth members, their parents and Scouting leaders.

Uncovering the Problems with Retention

The objectives of the research were to find out why boys were dropping out of the Cub Scout program and how the results compared to a National Boy Scout Retention Survey that had been conducted in 2003.
