Registrar’s Ramblings

It’s that time of year again. Time to dust off that old unit roster and complete your up-dates and get it in to the Council Service Center. The renewal deadline of December 31 is the same for all units this year. That date may seem a ways off but don’t wait too long to get it done because the holidays will be here soon and before you know it, it will be the New Year. Please set a goal to have everything in not later than December 15.

Here are some hint for making the process easier for you.

ALL UNITS:

DO use Internet Explorer as your browser for best results. Firefox, Safari and Chrome are compatible but you may come up with warnings.

DO press the update button for your roster if you recently turned in any new youth or adult applications.

DO obtain all necessary youth and leader applications, complete with all signatures, as indicated on Page one of the completed and printed charter.

DO obtain the signatures of the unit leader and either the Executive Officer or the Chartered Organization Representative on Page two of the completed and printed charter. Do not sign on the Council Representative line.

DO leave all grades as shown. The National BSA office automatically advances all grades on June 1st. Exception: If the youth is currently listed in the wrong grade, change that Scout only.

DO submit the Youth Protection Training certificate for all adults.

DO submit one check payable to the Voyageurs Area Council, BSA with your renewal paperwork.

TROOPS, CREWS, SHIPS:

Submit applications for transitioning Webelos as they cross over. DO NOT hold them until charter renewal time.

DO remember to attach an adult application for any 18 year-old Scout who is now registering as a College Scout Reserve (92U) or as an Assistant Scoutmaster.

DO obtain an adult application for any adult who is registering to be in a leadership role such as assistant Scoutmaster or Committee Member.

PACKS:

DO include and or keep all Tiger Cub Adult Partners for renewing Tiger Cubs.

DO obtain an adult application for any adult who is registering to be in a leadership role such as Den Leader or Committee Member.

DO NOT delete any active 5th grade Webelos unless they have already obtained their Arrow of Light and have transitioned into a troop.

DO call your Unit Commissioner or District Executive with any questions you may have about the renewal process. We are here to help!
